New Event: Covering Trends in the Industrial Technology Sector with Maersk, EIP & Next47
Counter Club event on December 9th covering trends in industrial technologies - global trade, energy and advanced manufacturing.
Its been a while since our last event, when we covered trends in the healthcare sector with Bayer, Mayo Clinic and Johnson & Johnson. A lot has happened, including some fantastic announcements regarding a COVID-19 vaccine.
As the Counter Club has continued to grow (new member shout outs below) we wished to exercise the depth of the network by inviting industry experts in industrial technologies to talk about trends they are seeing on our next online event. We will cover trends in global trade, energy and advanced manufacturing.
Presenters
Peter Votkjaer Jorgensen has been with Maersk for 16 years and joined their CVC group Maersk Growth in 2017 when it was first established. A 12-person team, Maersk Growth invests in three key themes: Smart Logistics, Enabled Trade and Sustainable Supply Chains. With a $30-40M annual allocation off the Maersk balance sheet, Peter and his team write checks up to $5M. Peter will discuss trends he’s seeing in Global Trade during our next upcoming online event.
Cassie Bowe is a Principal at Energy Impact Partners (EIP). EIP is a global investment platform leading the transition to a sustainable energy future by bringing together entrepreneurs with the world's most forward-looking utilities and operating companies to advance innovation. EIP is investing out of its second fund ($750M) with 80% of the capital coming from utilities and a mix of financial and strategic investors financially motivated in decision making. Utilities are LPs in EIP to gain strategic insight into the market and how to work with emerging companies, as well as develop potential revenue channels.
Jason Sydow is a Partner at Next47. Next47 is a global venture firm, backed by Siemens, committed to turning today's impossible ideas into tomorrow's indispensable industries. Next47 invests likes to write checks early on as a lead investor, focused on generating revenue by providing access to its global network. Jason focuses on application software, infrastructure software, additive manufacturing, and robotics. He has led investments in Bonsai.ai (acquired by MSFT), Identify3D, Riffyn, Falkonry, and Citrine.

Porsche Ventures, a $150M fund, partners and invests in companies from early stage through to growth. Gabriel is based in the SF Bay Area and covers auto tech, micromobility, first mile/last mile logistics, long haul, consumer and luxury experiences, fintech, fitness and wellness.
Nicolas Proszenuck, Investment Director, Distill Ventures
Distill Ventures is the externally-managed CVC arm of Diageo, one of the world’s largest producers of spirits and beers. Distill Ventures invests to acquire and lists itself as a highly strategic investor in the Counter Club database. Nicolas invests in new, novel spirits and non-alcoholic beverage brands (excluding soft drinks, still water, wine and beer). He is based in New York.
Counter Council
We have an announcement coming soon, regarding our newly established Advisory Council - the Counter Council. In our continued efforts to demystify corporate venture capital, we’re adding resources to the Counter Club that aid all investors.
The Counter Council will aim to service the members of the Counter Club with access to high quality data and advice in financial services, legal and fund admin. In doing so, we are creating the most engaged and helpful network of free resources for those in the corporate venture capital community.
